JCSO: Dog jumps on ATV, knocks over gun & shoots teenager

FANNETT — Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an accidental shooting in the 19000 block of Burrell-Wingate in Fannett at 3:48 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said a 15-year-old male said he had been out near a pond on family property when a dog jumped onto his ATV, knocking over his 22 rifle, causing it to discharge.

The bullet struck the teen, causing a non-life threatening injury.

The teen was able to use a cell phone to call for assistance.

Police said the victim was taken to a local hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
