Dr. Sally Ann Lapoint

On Wednesday, February 19, 2020, God dispatched his angels to bring his daughter, Rev. Dr. Sally Ann Lapoint home.
Sally Ann Lapoint was born on July 17, 1943 to her parents, the late Harry LaPoint, Sr. and Lela Newkirk LaPoint.
Sally Ann graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1960, and went on to graduate from Prairie View A & M University in 1965 with a degree in Elementary Education.
Sally Ann loved education, and spent multiple years as school teacher in the Joliet, Illinois School system.
She went on to achieve a Master’s Degree from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma, and later earned her Ph.D. in Administrative Education from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Massachusetts.
Sally Ann was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Sally Ann leaves to cherish her memories her children, Byron Keith Gabriel (Marita Twitty), Seth Lapoint Gabriel, and Angela Nicole Gabriel Walton (John Walton); three brothers, Harry LaPointe, Jr. (Galatha), Grant LaPoint (Phyllis) of Port Arthur, Texas, and Albert Wayne LaPoint (Vivian) of Richardson, Texas, stepsisters Willie Mae Jolivet – Diles and Charlene Jolivet of Port Arthur, Texas, Alice Mae Jackson and Shirley Jolivet of Los Angeles, California and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Rock Island Missionary Baptist Church, 549 West 11th Street, Port Arthur, TX with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
