Lark Group of Warren has been awarded two contracts to demolish 13 residential properties throughout Port Arthur deemed dangerous structures.

Lark has received a $30,800 contract to demolish seven structures within 14 days. The properties are located at 2678 W. 62nd St., 6124 Pine Ave., 147 E. 5th St., 523-525 E. 9th St., 930 E. 12th St., 910 E. 19th St., and 1949 E. 18th St.

The company must finish one group of properties before starting on another group. Lark also received a $22,800 contract to demolish six residences within 12 days: 2021 Thomas Blvd., 2141 9th St., 2140 6th St., 5241 5th St., 3141 Highland Ave. and 3921 7th Ave.

In other City of Port Arthur business:

• The Texas Health and Human Services Commission will donate an additional $30,474 to the city for its Women, Infants and Children program. The commission has granted $790,270 since November 2016.

The grant covers nine full-time employees, a part-time employee and two contract employees.

• Mainstay Suites and Super 8 Motel received contracts to provide hotel accommodations and conference rooms in the event of an emergency. The city will provide the hotel a list of services needed within seven days of occupancy and pay within 20 days of receiving an itemized invoice.

There is no prepayment for the services. The contracts are good through April 25, 2022.

• Schaumberg and Polk Inc. of Beaumont have been approved for an 18-month extension to its contract with the city at no cost for rehabilitating the water storage elevated tank on West Port Arthur Road. The design phase was completed March 4, a week before coronavirus was declared a pandemic, which delayed the start of construction.
• A change order to the city’s contract with Excavation & Construction LLC extends the completion date of the Sunken Court Reconstruction Project from Twin City Highway to North Park Drive by 60 days to Aug. 20. The contract amount has been increased by more than $20,000 to $2,341,290.39.

Entergy will relocate street light poles at four intersections of Sunken Court.

A resolution to rename the Pavilion after Vietnam War victim 1st Lt. Adam Ernest Simpson and the Development Services building, currently under construction, after late Planning and Zoning Commission member Inell Moore, could be listed on the upcoming agenda.
