NEDERLAND — Blanc Boutique on Boston Avenue is reopening after a four-month closure for remodeling and relocation.

Originally pinpointed at 311 N. 12th St., the new spot is now a couple doors down, situated next to Buckstin Brewery, at 1205 Boston Ave., Suite A.

Daughter and mother Daniella and Julie Blanco, who are co-owners, always wanted to be on Boston Avenue.

“It’s Nederland’s historic street and there is a lot more visibility and foot traffic,” Daniella said. “This whole building was the Holland House, built in 1953, so it’s a historic building. We got word that is was going to be for sale so we came in, looked around and fell in love with it.”

The Blancos bought the building in early May. During the mandated shutdown almost a month before, it became the perfect opportunity to get the project started.

“We’ve been remodeling since May,” Daniella said. “We divided the store in half, all the doors, walls, dressing rooms, it’s all new. Since COVID-19, it was hard to find people to do the remodeling. We were also in a time crunch, but other than that it wasn’t too challenging. The city of Nederland and EDC were great to work with and helped us a lot.”

The new location sports the artwork of local artists who painted murals and walls in the boutique.

“We wanted to be a little different,” Daniella said. “There are around five other boutiques on Boston. We wanted to differentiate ourselves.”

The boutique is also different because of its in-house spa.

Services include hair salon, lash extensions and lifts, CBD infused spray tans, custom facials, microderm abrasion, waxing, skin tag removal, makeup and more.

“We just thought it would be different to expand on the salon part,” Daniella said. “Before we had three chairs, now we have five. At first we wanted one esthetician and a massage professional, but we found two great estheticians, so we stuck with that. People were always asking for services we couldn’t provide at the other salon so we wanted to become a one-stop shop this time around.”

The salons two estheticians include Maecala Picard and Phuong Nguyen. Hair stylists are Gabi Blanco and Mae McCovy. Three salon chairs are currently open.

Daniella said the shop is entirely family run.

“Me and my mom run the boutique, my sister is a stylist and owns Buckstin Brewing next door,” she said. “We are just really close and we want to provide a fun environment to our employees and customers.”

The clothing in Blanc Boutique consists of comfortable, laid-back pieces in sizes small to 2X in jeans, T-shirts, dresses, jumpsuits, cover-ups and more.

“We want the girls who come in here to feel confident and comfortable in their own skin,” Daniella said. “We have clothes in all age ranges from teens to adults. We try to have clothes for everybody and make everyone feel comfortable. Our receptionists are really bubbly and welcoming. We just want everyone to come in and give them the service they deserve.”

The boutique plans to host nighttime events like Sip & Shop and Botox parties to incorporate a fun night out with useful information.

Masks are required when entering the boutique and salon, but dressing rooms will be open.

The boutique’s grand reopening is at 1 p.m. today.

The shop is open on limited hours Thursday and Friday from 1-6 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
