Beaumont, TX — The Jack Brooks Fire Department will conduct a Full-Scale Exercise (FSX) April 22 at 8 a.m. to evaluate the preparedness and capabilities of local response agencies, the airport, and its tenants in the event of an emergency. This exercise is mandated every three years under Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) 139.319.
The purpose of the Full-Scale Exercise is to simulate real-world conditions and ensure that all entities involved in airport safety are prepared to respond efficiently to an emergency situation. The exercise will involve multiple agencies, organizations and jurisdictions working under coordinated systems such as Incident Command System (ICS) or Unified Command.
FSXs are resource-intensive and complex, requiring personnel and resources to be mobilized in real-time. This immersive experience is designed to mirror the stress and dynamics of an actual incident, testing the ability of responders to think critically, solve problems rapidly, and effectively manage the situation.
As one of the most comprehensive forms of training, Full-Scale Exercises provide an invaluable opportunity to evaluate and improve emergency preparedness on a large scale. The Jack Brooks Fire Department is committed to ensuring that both personnel and resources are fully equipped to handle potential emergencies in the future.
While the exercise may involve increased emergency response vehicles in the area, please rest assured that all necessary precautions have been taken to minimize any potential disruptions to the community and surrounding areas. Residents may notice an increased presence of emergency personnel during the event, but there is no cause for immediate concern.
