Charlie Toups

Charlie Toups, 81, of Bridge City, Texas passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas.

Charlie was born April 17, 1934 in Port Arthur, Texas to Ferman Charles Toups, Sr. and Faye Perkins Toups.

He was a lifelong area resident and retired from TXDOT, after 40 years of service as an Inspector.

He started entering rodeos at the age of 16 and has been a Team Roper since the 1970’s.

He was preceded in death by the mother of five of his children, Arlene Toups; and two sisters, Fern Paetow and Jessa Bea McCann.

Survivors include his wife, Gayle Toups of Bridge City; four daughters, Aline Toups of Sour Lake, Charlene Leger and her husband Ricky of Sour Lake, Molly Toups and her wife Tish of Sour Lake, Mitzi Toups of Sour Lake; three sons, Charles “Brother” Toups, III and his wife Adrian of LaPorte, Tyler Toups and his wife Amanda of Orange, Michael Toups of Beaumont; grandchildren, Charla Griffin and her husband Brant, Jake Leger and his wife Kelli, Cayla Robbins and her husband Jonathan, Ceaton Toups, Trey Toups, Tylie Toups, Caleb Roland and Cassidy Roland; great-grandchildren, Adam, Beau, and Zack.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 28, 2016 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park.

A visitation for family and friends will be Sunday evening from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
