RiverFest planning days of family fun, numerous attractions

PORT NECHES —This year’s RiverFest promises something for everyone.
Held May 1 to May 5 at Port Neches Riverfront Park, the annual festival features Thunder on the Neches power boat races produced by John Schubert with NGK-F1 Powerboat Championship, live entertainment, a carnival, food and arts and craft vendors, among other attractions.
The festival kicks off with the opening ceremony at 5:45 p.m. May 1 with Faith and Family Night. Encounter Church team will hit the stage first then at 7:30 p.m. Christian musician Tauren Wells will also perform.
Ticket prices
- Wednesday, May 1/Faith and Family Night — $10, kids 12 and under get in free
- Thursday, May 2/Christus SETX Night, free entry
- Friday, May 3 — $10, kids 12 and under get in free
- Saturday, May 4 — $10, after 5 p.m. is $15
- Sunday, May 5 — free entry
Riverpasses are $60 per person for unlimited rides and free admission to the gates. They are on sale at all Port Neches Credit Unions.
Gates, parking
There are two gates again this year. The main gate is be Grisgby and the second gate on Park.
Festival officials have teamed up with tugboat Island Rebuild Project and are giving a portion of the gate proceeds to those efforts, according to information from RiverFest officials.
The public is encouraged to park at the Port Neches-Groves High School parking lot, where a golf cart shuttle will pick up and drop off at the gate.
Events
In addition to the carnival, boat races and live entertainment, there will also be a pet show, treasure hunt, horseshoe and washer tournament, fireworks display, cutest baby contest and a kids coloring contest, where the winner gets his or her picture on a t-shirt and more.
