First Financial Bank hosts Port Neches Coffee; honors business, student of month

PORT NECHES — The Port Neches Chamber of Commerce Monthly Coffee was hosted by First Financial Bank at The Pompano in Port Neches this week.

During the meeting David LeJeune of First Financial Bank provided information about fraud and of being diligent, especially as more fraud is reported as occurring during the holiday season.

The bank is keeping track of fraudsters who are taking checks that are mailed to pay bills and selling the victims information, he said.

Also during the event the Chamber recognized the Student of the Month, Jackson Christian.

In the nomination letter from the Jon Deckert, director of student actives with Port Neches-Groves High School, said Christian is a two-time captain of the offensive line and member of the 2023 state championship team.

Christian exhibits leadership qualities and outstanding character thought the kindness he shows to every student, no matter the age or social standing.

“Overall, Jackson displays the characteristics of a responsible, hard-workng young man who is both an extremely positive person and a motivated student,” Deckert said.

Mike Tobias, journalism teacher at the high school said, “what’s greater than Jack’s physical stature is the character he exemplifies.”

“He is not boastful; he is not wanting of attention. He instead lives to serve and to stay true to strong values learned by example of other steadfast role models in his life.”

Logan Wilson, varsity football coach, said Christian is the embodiment of what makes PNG such a special place. He called him an amazing leader both in the classroom and on the field.

A number of other educators also praised Christian on his work ethic and character.
