Police: suspicious cause of death was self-inflicted

Port Arthur Police have determined Wednesday’s suspicious death of a man was self-inflicted.

Chief Tim Duriso confirmed the deceased suffered a fatal gunshot wound. A female person of interest spoke with detectives, as she was a witness to the incident. She was not charged.

Officers were called to the 3100 block of 8th Street for shots fired just after 1 p.m. Wednesday and located the scene nearby in the 700 block of 3rd Avenue.

Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Joseph Guillory II pronounced the man deceased and ordered for an autopsy.
