PORT NECHES — The owners of the first brewery in Mid and South Jefferson County announced its closure effective Dec. 31.
Neches Brewing Company, 1108 Port Neches Ave. in Port Neches, first opened its doors eight years ago. On Wednesday came the closing announcement.
“We had eight years of celebrating beer and making memories. We’d like to thank everyone who came through our doors and we hope our little brewery was something that made you feel at home. Cheers,” the social media post read.
Tyler Blount, co-owner of the brewpub, said it’s time for the next chapter and he’s ready for whatever God brings his way.
The idea of closing the business didn’t happen overnight. The effects of the pandemic coupled with the economy helped lead to the decision to close Neches Brewing Company.
