NEDERLAND — Trees For Houston, a leading tree advocate, is holding a tree giveaway from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at First Baptist Church, 1911 Nederland Avenue in Nederland.
The event is free and open to the public.
Community members are invited to stop by and pick up trees in three-gallon containers, including Turks Cap, Crepe Myrtle and Southern Magnolia.
Trees For Houston staff and volunteers will be on hand to load the trees into cars and answer any questions.
Trees For Houston
“Our mission is to plant, protect and promote trees throughout the greater Houston area,” a company release stated. “Founded in 1983, and as we approach our 40th anniversary, we have planted more than 700,000 trees to benefit the Houston community.”
Organizers stress that trees clean the air, mitigate runoff, cool the surroundings and beautify local neighborhoods.
