The alleged getaway driver who brought two males to burglarize a Port Neches home was indicted this week by a Jefferson County grand jury.
Port Neches Police Department investigators contend Jose Gabriel Cortez, 19, of Port Neches, was the driver of a Nissan Altima involved in the burglary.
Port Neches Police Department officers were called March 19 to the area of Llano Street and Jackson Avenue in reference to a suspicious vehicle, where two males, one wearing a black hoodie and one wearing a red hoodie, came out of a vehicle and ran to the back of a home in the 700 block of Llano Street.
A responding officer made a traffic stop on the vehicle and noted Cortez was the driver and two other males were inside the car.
Two black garbage bags with clothing and a PlayStation 4 allegedly taken from a residence in the 700 block of Llano were in the vehicle, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Officers spoke with a witness who said he saw the two males run to the backyard of the house and run out with the items. This was also caught on video.
The driver reportedly stayed in the vehicle.
The owner of the residence told police his son lives in the shed and his items are stored there.
Cortez was arrested on a charge of burglary of a habitation and bond set at $12,000. He bonded out the next day.
