Beaumont motorcycle operator dies after 2-vehicle wreck

A 20-year-old Beaumont man was killed late Monday when his motorcycle collided with a passenger vehicle traveling in front of him.

Beaumont police said Cody Ray Kendrick, traveling southbound on a motorcycle in the passenger lane in the 5000 block of South Major Drive around 10:15 p.m., collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old Beaumont woman.

During the initial investigation, witnesses said the silver passenger vehicle, also southbound in the passenger lane, spun around several times after the collision before coming to a complete stop. The motorcycle, which witnesses said was traveling at a high rate of speed, and its driver came to a stop about 25 yards from the car.

The woman was not injured. She was not ticketed, police said.

Kendrick was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The investigation would continue, police said.
