Beaumont police, helped by a Harris County SWAT team, arrested Desmond Bennett, 22, of Beaumont on Tuesday for the Dec. 28 murder of Anthony Green, 20.

In an issued statement, police said Beaumont detectives and U.S. marshals followed a tip that led them to a Houston area hotel, where they made the arrest without incident on a Jefferson County warrant. Bennett was expected to be returned to Beaumont on Tuesday afternoon.

Bennett is accused of killing Green, of Beaumont, in a midday shooting behind a car wash at 3025 Washington St. Police arrived at the shooting scene to find Green, who had been shot several times. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Green was the 19th^th murder victim in Beaumont in 2017.
