NEDERLAND — After a year off while constructing their Beaumont location Buckstin Brewery is bringing their beer garden back to Nederland.
Buckstin, located at 1211 Boston Ave., got the green light from Nederland City Council this week to operate the beer garden from March 12 to March 15. The dates coincide with the Nederland Heritage Festival but are not associated with the event which is held several blocks away.
The beer garden will be located at a vacant lot between 1208 and 1220 Boston Avenue. The owner of the property had given Buckstin permission.
Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission requires approval by local officials which is why the issue was brought to council, Nederland City Manager Chris Duque explained.
The request was also reviewed by building official George Wheeler, Nederland Police Department and Nederland Fire Department.
The vacant lot will be enclosed by temporary fencing due to the proximity of the brewery storefront and the beer garden and the use of the property is considered an accessory use for TABC guidelines. The patron cannot enter or exit the beer garden with alcohol.
Stephen Oubre, operations manager for Buckstin Brewing Company, said last year they did not operate the beer garden as they were in the process of opening a Beaumont location.
They did, however, hold the beer garden in 2022 and 2023.
